Two Batteries on a W204 With ECO Start/Stop
On a W204 C250 with ECO start/stop, the battery under the bonnet is not the only one. An additional battery for the start/stop system sits in the boot, so a car can pass a quick check at the front and still have a tired battery at the back.
We test both where the car stands. The 2014 C-Class owner's manual also lists a battery charge that is too low among the reasons start/stop restarts the engine by itself, so a car that keeps firing up at the lights deserves a test before the main battery gives out.

Car Parked Where It Can Stay
The 2014 C-Class owner's manual notes that the transmission locks in P once the battery is disconnected, so the car will not move until the job is done.

With the ignition off and every indicator lamp dark, the negative clamp comes off before the positive, as the manual requires.

Mercedes C250 Battery Questions
If it has ECO start/stop, yes. The main battery is under the bonnet on the passenger side, and an additional battery for the start/stop system sits in the boot. Either can fail on its own, so we test the pair on site before recommending a replacement for one or both.
The C250 badge was used on the W204 and the W205, and the W206 generation, where the C200 and C300 carry a 48V lithium-ion battery, has no C250. We still check the car on arrival, because the battery layout differs between the two generations it was built in.
One reason the 2014 C-Class owner's manual gives is a battery charge that has dropped too low, so the car starts the engine to protect it. A free test where the car is parked shows whether the battery still holds charge or needs replacing, from AED 175 fitted.
Not by rolling it. The 2014 C-Class owner's manual says the transmission is locked in P after the battery is disconnected, so the car stays put. We fit the new battery where the car stands, at home, at the office or in a car park, and it drives away afterwards.
The 2015 C-Class owner's manual ties that message to the transmission's auxiliary battery no longer being charged. Later W205 manuals add that you should select P manually before switching off and apply the parking brake. We test the main battery and the charging supply to see what the car needs.
On a W204, the manual asks for the clock to be set again after the power has been interrupted, unless COMAND navigation sets it automatically. The technician checks the clock and the dashboard with you before leaving, and the new battery carries our 1-year warranty.
