Mercedes' rescue sheet splits the AMG car by build date: battery in the boot up to 30 November 2009, in the engine bay from 1 December 2009. Once power is back, the 2013 C-Class manual has the owner reset the clock, unless COMAND with navigation does it automatically.

That changes with the build. A W204 made up to 30 November 2009 has it in the boot, and one made from 1 December 2009 has it in the engine bay. A W205 can use either position, and the W206 C63 S E PERFORMANCE keeps its 12V AGM in the engine compartment.
Yes. Mercedes lists a 12V AGM in the engine compartment alongside the 400V lithium-ion pack at the rear, which the owner's manual rates at 6.1 kWh. We test and replace the 12V battery at your car, and the high-voltage pack is left as a separate system.
The 2018 C-Class owner's manual covers cars fitted with a lithium-ion 12V battery and limits their chargers to 14.4 V, against 14.8 V for the others. Our technician reads the label on the battery in your car and brings a replacement of the same type, so the charging system gets what it expects.
The 2013 C-Class manual allows it only with a charger approved by Mercedes-Benz, connected at the jump-start point in the engine compartment and limited to 14.8 V. The 2018 manual lowers that limit to 14.4 V for lithium-ion batteries. A battery that will not hold its charge is tested and replaced at the car.
The 2013, 2018 and 2023 C-Class owner's manuals list no coding step for the 12V battery. They ask for a replacement that meets the vehicle's requirements and, on a W204 without COMAND navigation, for the clock to be set again. We explain at booking how your particular car is handled.
