Mercedes CLA200 Battery Replacement, Bonnet, Cabin and Boot

On a second-generation CLA200 the main 12V AGM is in the engine bay under a cover. A second 12V AGM sits low in the cabin by the front seats, and cars from the 2023 update add a 48V lithium-ion battery in the boot. Our technician checks all three positions on the visit.

Two 12V AGM batteries on a C118 built before the 2023 update, and three on later cars, which add the 48V battery for the mild-hybrid system. The first-generation C117 has a main battery and an auxiliary battery. Each one is tested separately, so you only pay for the one that has failed.

On a first-generation CLA, the owner's manual has the clock reset through Audio 20 or COMAND after the power returns. Our technician checks the clock, presets and display messages with you before leaving, so the car is handed back working as it was before the battery went flat.

On the jump-start connection point in the engine compartment, not directly on a battery. The 2022 CLA owner's manual sends both jump leads and chargers there, with the charger kept to 14.8 V. If the battery will not hold a charge after a jump, we test it and replace it on the spot.
