Mercedes E300 Battery Replacement in Dubai, W213 and W214

We test and replace the 12V battery on petrol, mild-hybrid and plug-in E300s, wherever the car is parked in Dubai. On both the W213 and the W214, a 12V battery lives in the boot. What sits under the bonnet differs: a 48V lithium-ion battery on 48V cars, and a second 12V battery on the W214 E300e. We confirm which E300 you drive before setting off.

Which One Is Yours

Mercedes E300 by Generation

Two generations wear the E300 badge in Dubai, and each has its own mix of petrol, 48V and plug-in cars. The VIN settles which one is yours.

W213

2016 - 2023

The 12V battery is in the boot. A second position under the bonnet, on the passenger side, holds a 12V unit or, on cars built with the 48V system, the 48V battery. The 2017 manual also names an auxiliary battery for the transmission.

W214

2023 - present

The 12V AGM battery stays in the boot and a 48V lithium-ion battery sits in the engine compartment. The E300e plug-in carries a second 12V battery, so it has one at each end of the car.

W214 E300e

One Badge, Up to Three Batteries on the E300e

The W214 E300e carries a 12V battery under the bonnet and another in the boot, beside its high-voltage pack. Both 12V units are tested on their own, and only the one that fails is replaced.

The high-voltage pack is not part of a 12V battery visit. Our work on a plug-in E300 is the 12V side, which is what wakes the car.

E-Class manual

E-Class Manual Rules for a New 12V Battery

What the 2017 and 2024 E-Class owner's manuals ask of the battery that goes in.

  • Built-In Battery TypeThe 2024 E-Class manual guarantees full function only with an AGM or lithium-ion battery that meets the car's requirements.
  • 14.8V, or 14.4V on Lithium-IonThe 2017 manual caps chargers at 14.8V, or at 14.4V on an E-Class fitted with a lithium-ion 12V battery.
  • Vent Hose Back in PlaceThe 2024 manual asks for the vent hose to stay connected to the original opening on the side of the new battery.
  • 48V Recharge After a JumpAfter a jump-start, a 48V car can show Please Wait Charging 48 V Battery until its converter has topped the 48V side up.

Warning messages

E300 Messages Worth a Battery Call

Each one is a reason to test the 12V side first.

  • Auxiliary Battery Malfunction, which the 2017 E-Class manual describes as the transmission's auxiliary battery no longer charging

  • The same message on a W214, with the 2024 manual's advice to select P by hand and set the electric parking brake

  • Please Wait Charging 48 V Battery after a jump-start or a charge

  • An E300 that struggles after standing, the case where the 2017 manual suggests standby mode or an approved charger

Questions

Mercedes E300 Battery Questions

In the boot on both the W213 and the W214. The W213 has a further position under the bonnet on the passenger side, holding a 12V unit or the 48V battery. The W214 E300 keeps its 48V lithium-ion battery under the bonnet, and the W214 E300e has a second 12V battery there instead.

Every W214 E300: a 48V lithium-ion battery in the engine compartment, next to the 12V AGM in the boot. On the W213, only cars built with the 48V system carry one. We test and replace the 12V battery, and the 2024 manual reserves 48V battery work for a specialist workshop.

Yes, on the W214. The E300e carries one 12V battery under the bonnet and one in the boot, alongside its high-voltage pack. They are separate units, so each is tested on its own, and a weak reading on one does not mean both are replaced. We quote only for the one that has failed.

The 2017 E-Class manual sets a 14.8V maximum, or 14.4V where a lithium-ion 12V battery is fitted. All charging goes through the jump-start point in the engine compartment. It warns that a charger with no voltage limit can damage the battery or the car's electronics.

From AED 175 fitted. The price depends on the generation and on whether your E300 takes an AGM or a lithium-ion 12V battery. It is confirmed before the visit. Our 1-year warranty applies to the new battery, and the old E300 battery is taken for recycling.

Any setting-up step your E300 needs after fitting is explained when you book. The 2024 E-Class manual asks that a replacement meets the car's own requirements. So the battery is matched from your VIN and the fitted label before the technician sets off.
