Auxiliary Battery Malfunction: What to Do Now
On a Mercedes-Benz, the message means the battery that backs up the transmission is no longer charging. Until it is replaced:
Select P before you switch the engine off
Apply the electric parking brake before you leave the car
Call us to test both batteries where the car is parked
The car usually still starts and drives, because the main battery is unaffected. The risk comes when you park, so the warning should not wait.

Auxiliary Battery Replacement, Step by Step
Test both batteries
The main battery, the auxiliary battery and the charging supply are tested, so the right part is replaced.
Secure the car
The car goes into P with the parking brake on before anything is disconnected.
Match the part and vent
The new battery matches the old one's size, capacity and terminals, and the vent tube is refitted where the case has one.
Fit and check charging
Once it is fitted we confirm the new battery is charging, and the old one goes for recycling.

What a Hybrid's 12V Battery Needs
A hybrid carries two batteries: the high-voltage pack that drives the car, and a 12V battery that lets the hybrid system power up.
- A flat 12V stops a hybridWith a flat 12V battery a hybrid may not power up at all, even with a healthy hybrid pack. It is the first thing we test.
- Often in the bootOn many Toyota hybrids the 12V battery sits in the luggage area, not under the bonnet. Your model and year tell us where yours is.
