12V battery
Sits with the 48V system and a DC-DC converter. This is the battery we test and replace.
British · Grand TourerBook a free battery reading for your Aston Martin wherever it stands, and if the 12-volt battery has failed, the AGM battery Aston Martin specifies goes in there and then, at any hour. On the DB11, the 2019 Vantage and the DBS Superleggera, that means an H8-size AGM rated 92 Ah and 850 A (EN).

A technician comes to the car, measures the battery and swaps it there and then if it fails. Aston Martin states that every model with stop/start, from the introduction of the DB11, uses an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery, which needs no topping up between services.
Earlier cars such as the DB9, the V8 and V12 Vantage and the first Rapide get a battery chosen from the markings on the one they carry now.

No Aston Martin battery replacement is quoted without a measurement first. Aston Martin puts a fully charged AGM battery at 12.8 V and treats about 80% charge, 12.65 V, as normal for a car in regular use. Below 12 V, it says sulphate crystals grow on the plates and the battery stops working properly.
Its jump-start guidance for the DB11, 2019 Vantage and DBS Superleggera adds that when the cause of a discharge and how long it lasted are not known, the battery must be replaced. We tell you which side of that line your car is on before anything is ordered.

Powers the electronic anti-roll control, and must never be used to give or receive a jump start.
External equipment such as a battery charger is never connected to the 48V battery.

What Aston Martin's battery care guidance asks for when a car stands:
Unused for more than two weeks: an AGM battery conditioner goes on.
Unused for more than six months: the battery is disconnected and kept charged off the car.
No bulk charging when the air is above 40°C; a trickle charge under 0.5 A instead.
With the battery disconnected the door glass does not fully seal, so the car is kept somewhere dry.
An AGM battery that falls below 8 V is disconnected and removed to protect the car's electrical modules.
A conditioner keeps a charged battery topped up, but Aston Martin says it will not effectively charge a discharged one.
The cover comes off the main power fuse bank, and the pack's positive lead goes to its positive terminal.
The negative lead goes to the ground nut on the suspension turret.
Once the engine starts, it runs at that speed for about two minutes with the pack still attached.

Aston Martin specifies an H8-size AGM battery rated 92 Ah and 850 A (EN) for the DB11, the 2019 Vantage and the DBS Superleggera, and every stop/start model since the DB11 uses AGM. That type comes with the technician, and the old battery is measured free before any swap, wherever the car is kept.

No. Aston Martin warns that the DBX's 48V lithium-ion battery must never be used to give or receive a jump start, and that no charger should ever be connected to it. On a DBX, our job is the 12-volt battery alone: it is tested free and, if it has failed, swapped for the matching type.
Possibly not. Aston Martin asks for an AGM conditioner on any car unused for more than two weeks, and says a conditioner cannot effectively recharge a discharged battery. A reading at the car tells us which: a healthy battery gets a jump-start, and a failed one is replaced there and then.
Aston Martin notes that with the battery disconnected, the door glass does not fully engage the seal when the door is closed, which is why it asks for a dry store during a long lay-up. Once a charged battery is back in, we check the doors and windows close normally before handover.
