Engine room cover off
With the hood open, the engine room cover comes off first.
Japanese · Luxury & HybridLexus hybrids and petrol models get their 12-volt battery tested and replaced wherever they are parked in Dubai, 24/7. When a hybrid will not wake up, the 12-volt auxiliary battery is the first thing we test, and Lexus keeps it away from the bonnet: in the cargo area on the 2010 RX 450h and in the trunk on the 2013 ES 300h.

A Lexus hybrid runs two batteries. The high-voltage pack drives the car, while a 12-volt auxiliary battery powers the lights, screens and the computers that start the hybrid system. The emergency response guides for the 2010 RX 450h and the 2013 ES 300h describe that auxiliary unit as a sealed lead-acid battery.
The 12-volt battery is the one we test, jump and replace. On the LX, GX, IS and other petrol models, the replacement is matched to the label of the battery the car carries now.

| 2010 RX 450h | 2013 ES 300h | |
|---|---|---|
| 12-volt battery | Sealed lead-acid, in the cargo area under a cover on the driver side | Sealed lead-acid, in the trunk under a fabric cover on the passenger side |
| Hybrid pack | About 288 volts, nickel metal hydride | 244.8 volts, nickel metal hydride, behind the rear seat |
| With a flat 12-volt battery | The rear back door cannot be opened | The trunk opener stops working; the metal key inside the smart key opens the trunk |
| Where the jump leads go | A remote positive terminal in the engine compartment fuse box | The battery itself, behind the passenger-side luggage trim |
The 2010 RX 450h guide routes the jump through the bonnet, because the battery is locked behind the back door.
With the hood open, the engine room cover comes off first.
The fuse box cover is removed and the positive terminal cover inside it opened.
Positive goes on the remote terminal and negative to a solid ground point.
With the smart key inside, brake pressed, the power button is pushed. If the key is not recognised, the guide says to open and close the driver door with the car off.
Open 24/7 across Dubai. The price is agreed on the phone first.
With 12-volt power back, the cargo area or trunk opens and the battery can be reached. We test it before anything is removed and, when it has failed, fit a new 12-volt battery matched to the label of the one in the car.
The hybrid pack is not part of a Lexus battery replacement visit, and we do not open or service it. On the RX and the ES, the guides add that an under-hood label shows where both batteries sit, so that label is the first thing we read when the bonnet goes up.
Your Lexus is tested by Battery Change Dubai at home, at work or in a car park, and its 12-volt battery is replaced only when it has failed.
More than 20 mobile vans work across Dubai. For a battery call, a technician reaches you in about 25 minutes. The vans cover Al Karama, Dubai South, Business Bay, Downtown Dubai, office car parks, villa communities and highways.
No. The emergency response guides for the 2010 RX 450h and the 2013 ES 300h both state that the high-voltage hybrid pack cannot be jump started. What can be jumped is the 12-volt auxiliary battery, and on the RX 450h that is done through a remote positive terminal in the engine compartment fuse box.
On the 2010 RX 450h the 12-volt auxiliary battery sits in the cargo area, and when it is discharged the rear back door cannot be opened. Power comes back through the remote terminal under the bonnet, and that lets us reach the battery, test it and replace it if it has failed.
On the 2013 ES 300h it is in the trunk, under a fabric cover on the passenger side in the rear quarter panel well. If that battery is flat the trunk opener stops working, and the metal key hidden inside the smart key opens the trunk instead, so the battery can still be reached.
Yes. On petrol models such as the LX 570, GX 460 and IS 350, we read the size, technology and cold cranking rating from the label on the fitted battery and bring a matching unit. The old battery is tested free first, so it is only replaced when the test shows it has failed.
Our prices begin at AED 175 including fitting. A hybrid's 12-volt battery and a large LX battery are each priced by the unit the label calls for, and you hear that figure on the phone before we set off. Every new battery is covered by our 1-year warranty, with no call-out fee.
