Charge First, Replace When the Test Says So
Bentley's own procedure is to try a trickle charge on a battery that will not recover on the workshop charger before replacing it, and to check the alternator's charge rating on cars that are not hybrids. A Bentley battery replacement with us follows the same order: charge and test, check the charging system free, then fit a new battery only if the old one has failed.
On the Flying Spur Hybrid, Bentley tests the 12-volt battery at its top posts, which means taking trim off to reach them, and we allow for that on the visit.
