I-Pace
The 2020 handbook says special tools are needed to refit its 12-volt battery and that the battery is removed for charging, so on an I-Pace we test it and jump-start the car.
British · Sports SaloonWe test Jaguar batteries free wherever the car is parked in Dubai, any hour, and boost a flat one through the jump start points under the bonnet, never at the battery itself. When a battery has failed, its replacement is the same type and rating as the one fitted, which is what Jaguar's handbooks ask for.

Jaguar's handbooks for the 2017 and 2020 F-Pace, the 2020 XE, the 2016 and 2020 XF, the 2020 E-Pace and F-Type and the 2019 and 2020 I-Pace all state that an Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) battery is fitted. They add one rule for replacements: only fit a battery of the same type and rating, since the wrong one may cause a fire or damage the electrical system.
Some older Jaguars differ. The 2016 F-Type handbook allows for either an AGM or a low-maintenance battery, so we read the label on the battery in your car before choosing its replacement.

Jaguar's 2017 and 2020 F-Pace handbooks warn against connecting jump leads directly to any battery terminal: it may cause a spark, which can result in an explosion, and the charging system may be damaged. The leads go instead on the jump start points at the front fuse box in the engine compartment, under their own lid, and the 2020 XE and XF handbooks route them to the engine compartment fuse box as well.
So every Jaguar battery replacement we carry out begins at those points: a flat car is boosted there, the old battery is tested, and only then is a matched battery brought in.

| Model | Battery position | From |
|---|---|---|
| F-Type, 2016 | Luggage compartment, behind the left-side cover | Handbook |
| XJ, 2016 | Under the floor of the luggage compartment, with boost terminals under the bonnet | Handbook |
| I-Pace, 2019 and 2020 | 12-volt battery under the bonnet, beneath the under-bonnet covers | Handbook |
| E-Pace mild hybrid, 2021 | 12-volt battery at the front; 48-volt pack under the floor | Rescue sheet |
| F-Pace plug-in hybrid (2020 on) and mild hybrid (2021 on) | Low-voltage batteries at the rear | Rescue sheets |
Older models such as the S-Type, X-Type and XK are located on the car before any work starts.

From the 2020 F-Pace handbook. We go over these at handover so none of them comes as a surprise:
The alarm may trigger when the battery is reconnected.
The windows need resetting: lift each switch to close, hold for 2 seconds, then repeat twice more.
A number of other systems may need to be reset.
With the engine off, power management starts shutting systems down after 10 minutes to protect the battery.
After a low-battery warning, the handbook advises a drive of at least 30 minutes.

The 2026 handbook allows for an optional 12-volt lithium-ion battery, labelled near the positive jump start terminal, and says never to use it to jump another car.
Its 48-volt lithium-ion pack is not the starting battery; the 12-volt battery at the front is the one we test and replace.

More than 20 mobile vans work across Dubai. For a battery call, a technician reaches you in about 25 minutes. The vans cover Al Karama, Dubai South, Business Bay, Downtown Dubai, office car parks, villa communities and highways.
JLR's rescue sheets for the 2020-on F-Pace plug-in hybrid and the 2021-on mild hybrid place the low-voltage batteries at the rear of the car. Whatever the year, the handbook routes jump leads to the jump start points at the front fuse box, so a flat F-Pace is boosted from under the bonnet.
Jaguar's handbooks ask for a battery of the same type and rating as the one fitted, warning that an incorrect battery may cause a fire, injury or electrical damage. Most current Jaguars leave the factory with an AGM battery, so an AGM car gets an AGM replacement with the same rating on its label.
The handbooks say battery disconnection, removal and replacement should be carried out only by qualified personnel, and to consult a retailer or authorised repairer when the battery needs replacing. We tell you that at booking. Our technicians test free, jump-start through the handbook's points and, if you choose us, fit a battery of the same type and rating.
The 2020 F-Pace handbook says the alarm may trigger when the battery is reconnected, and that the windows need resetting afterwards: lift each switch to the close position, hold it for 2 seconds and repeat twice more. Other systems may also need resetting, and our technician runs through them before leaving.
Fitted batteries start from AED 175, and a Jaguar's price follows the type and rating its current battery carries, often an AGM unit. The figure is agreed by phone before the technician leaves, the test of the old battery is free, and our 1-year warranty covers the replacement.
