Vent caps and a damp cloth
On a battery with vent caps, the caps come off and a firmly wrung-out moist cloth covers the battery to reduce the explosion risk.
Japanese · Everyday & 4x4A Nissan battery gets a free test where the car stands, from a Patrol on a villa drive to a Sunny in a tower car park, and is replaced on the spot only when it fails. Nissan's manuals describe two kinds: the 2020 Armada owner's manual describes cell plugs and a fluid level to keep up, while the 2023 Altima and 2024 Kicks carry sealed batteries that are not to be opened.

Battery, tester and tools all travel to the Nissan, whether it is at home, at work or stuck where it stopped. The cost is settled over the phone first, and the battery that comes out is recycled.
Before anything is fitted, our technician checks which kind of battery the car carries, because the care differs. A battery with cell plugs has a fluid level worth watching in a Dubai summer, and a sealed one labelled "do not open" is judged on its test result alone.

Two Nissan manuals, two different batteries, two different routines.
| Model | Battery | What the owner's manual says |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 Armada (Y62, VK56VD engine) | Cell plugs on top | Keep the fluid between the UPPER LEVEL and LOWER LEVEL lines, topping up with distilled water |
| 2023 Altima | Sealed, no removable vent caps | A battery labelled "do not open" is maintenance free and its fluid is not checked |
| 2024 Kicks | Sealed, no removable vent caps | Same rule: do not try to open the top of the battery |
From Nissan's owner's manuals for each model. On a Patrol, Navara or any other Nissan, our technician confirms on the car which kind is fitted.
Nissan's 2020 Armada manual says vehicles operated in high temperatures or under severe conditions need frequent checks of the battery fluid level. An Armada parked outdoors through a Dubai August fits that description.
It also warns against driving with the fluid low: the battery carries a higher load, generates heat and loses life, and in some cases it can explode. So when the battery has cell plugs, the first thing our technician looks at on a Nissan battery replacement call is the level in each cell. The load test follows, and a new battery is sold only if the old one fails it.
Each point comes from what Nissan's manuals ask owners to watch.
Cell plugs or a "do not open" label, which decides whether the fluid is checked
The fluid in each cell against the UPPER LEVEL and LOWER LEVEL lines
Terminal connections, clean and securely tightened
Accessories grounded straight to the battery terminal, which the Armada manual says can stop the battery charging fully
Phone chargers, GPS units and other accessories that draw power with the engine off

The 2020 Armada manual sets the order, and a jump from our technician follows it.
On a battery with vent caps, the caps come off and a firmly wrung-out moist cloth covers the battery to reduce the explosion risk.
Positive goes to positive, and the negative lead goes to body ground, not to the flat battery.
The starter is never held for more than 10 seconds. If the engine does not catch, the ignition goes off for 10 seconds before the next try.
If auto-close stops working once the battery has been disconnected, Nissan's 2020 Armada manual gives this reset, and our technician walks you through it before driving off. Other models have their own version in their manual.
Start the engine and close the door on the side being reset.
Open the window all the way, then pull and hold the switch to close it, holding on for more than 3 seconds after it shuts.
Let go, check that auto-close works, and repeat for each window.

More than 20 mobile vans work across Dubai. For a battery call, a technician reaches you in about 25 minutes. The vans cover Al Karama, Dubai South, Business Bay, Downtown Dubai, office car parks, villa communities and highways.
On a battery with cell plugs, often. Nissan's 2020 Armada manual gives no fixed interval but says cars run in high temperatures need frequent checks. A sealed battery labelled "do not open", as in the 2023 Altima and 2024 Kicks, is never checked that way, so our free test is the measure instead.
Not according to Nissan. The 2020 Armada manual says to add only distilled water, up to the UPPER LEVEL line, through the cell plugs, without overfilling. And if your battery is a sealed type with no vent caps, it should not be opened at all, whatever the water.
Nissan's 2020 Armada, 2023 Altima and 2024 Kicks manuals all say that if the car will stand for 30 days or longer, the negative battery cable should be disconnected to stop it discharging. Reconnect it when you return, and if it still struggles to start, we come out and test it.
Fitted batteries start at AED 175. The size and type on your Nissan's label settle the final price, which we quote by phone before setting off. The call-out is free of charge, as is the test, and every battery we fit is under our 1-year warranty.
